Wedding Trends and Inspirations

Wedding Trends that are HAUTE, and not!

TIME TO RETIRE

Coloured Sashes: Yes, those are gorgeous, but they have been gorgeous for the past 7 years, so let’s see what else is out there.

Pink/Brown Combination: Again, it is a gorgeous combination, but this one is past its prime!

Damask: Somehow over the past 2 years, damask lost its luster and after this ornate motif appeared on every imaginable surface, it is starting to look a bit stale and stylised.

ECO-Everything: It is just unrealistic to put pressure on every supplier to be Eco-friendly. Having a ‘green wedding’ does not get you closer to saving a planet, if most of your guests are flying in from different parts of the world to see you getting married in the earth-friendly frock. Be realistic and find ways to be ‘green’ in everyday life, and not just your wedding.

HAUTE TRENDS RIGHT NOW

Engagement Shoots: These are fun and cool photos a couple takes with a photographer before the wedding!

Pearlescent Paper: Beautiful  glimmer and shine never goes out of style.

Photo Booths: A hired photo booth or the one set up by your photographer, will be a huge hit with your guests!

Turquoise/Red: This is a bold colour combination that is gender neutral and very daring!

Birdcage Veils: This retro look has become huge in the last year. It is flattering and practical, and very alluring. These veils can be customized and embellished to express the bride’s personality and style!

Old-Fashion Lawn Games: Croquet is a great game to get guests playing whilst the bride and the groom are taking couple photos.

RISING WEDDING TRENDS

The Wedding Party All In White: oh yes, it is coming! In ancient Roman times, the bridesmaids dressed in the same colour as the bride to confuse the evil spirits whose intention was to harm her. In this modern time, this style can look incredibly elegant in photos.

Anything But White: this year many prominent designers introduced a Black and a Red wedding dress! And why not? Women who get married in their 30s feel silly donning on a virginal white gown. After all, it is only in Victorian times that white became the colour associated with the wedding dress, why not look past that era?

Tangerine/Cobalt: This is a strong, fresh and modern combination!

Back to Traditions: Traditional round wedding cakes are back! Think 3- 7 tier cake in smooth white or ivory, decorated only with small pearls – understated elegance at its best.

Bright, Colourful Heels: Choose any colour heels you want and show them off by playfully lifting your gown to reveal your shameless shoe obsession!

Laser Cut: laser cut stationery is huge, these delicate and intricate designs are mesmerizing and truly original.

Create-Your-Own Majito Bar: The popularity of signature cocktails is starting to dwindle. Rather, let your guests art-direct their own Majitos  with a spread of tropical fruits and syrups.

Choir At The Ceremony: It is one of those grand statements that feels so overwhelming, and there won’t be a dry eye in the house. You can also support a local community!

Origami: Paper creations can add a personal touch to the wedding decor – paper cranes are nostalgic and hopeful. Let your guests write a wish to you on the paper crane – a great keepsake.

Botanical Flowers: Think Anthuriums, Arum Lillis, Brunia, Amaryllis, Celosia Argentea, Pincushions – anything with texture and movement!

The Letterpress Company

The letterpress stationery has a bespoken sense of luxury. It is so understated, yet so explicit.  When the samples from The Letterpress Company arrived, I simply fell in love. The unmistakable quality of the paper, and the simplicity and elegance of the design are so exquisite -there is no doubt that if you are planning a spectacular wedding then a letterpress stationery is the only way to go.

Here is a background information to The Letterpress Company:  It is “… a South African family business, is an artisanal print shop dedicated to preserving the heritage of letterpress printing using antique, hand-operated printing equipment and traditional craftsmanship. With its roots in 13th century Asia and 15th century Europe, letterpress has become one of the “lost arts”
of printing and its rarity today adds to the mystique and value of this artisanal print craft. Our luxury bespoke stationery bears the distinctive, sculptural impression of ink into paper that is an
artefact of the printing process and a unique feature of letterpress. We print on the finest cotton, archival quality papers and use hand-mixed inks to accompany your
message with the unsurpassed warmth, elegance, and authenticity for which letterpress is renowned by
connoisseurs of all things beautiful.
