Wedding Flower Trend – Protea

Famous “Wedding Flowers” Magazine asked Eve from Splendid Affairs to comment on why Proteas are becoming a huge trend as a wedding flower.

At Splendid Affairs we believe Proteas to be bold flowers that makes a statement. They exude strength and admiration. Proteas are alluring and unique, yet  the flower is wide open- suggesting  openness to new possibilities, new beginnings. It is a positive and happy flower!

King Protea is a gorgeous flower that comes in a decadent pink shade, or red flower heads, its texture is velvety. The dominant shape of the flowers allows for a great structure in the bouquets or used in arrangements.  I love softening a Protea with roses and Lisianthus, or even adding Succulents and Orchids.

Proteas were seen gracing the wedding cake at The Royal Monaco Wedding, well done Your Serene Highness The Princess of Monaco for giving our national flower such honour!
